Accessing Disted Webmail
Online:
Please follow the procedure below to access your webmail account on the CTC Disted Email Server.
- Go to
URL: http://mail.online.ctcd.edu/
- Click
on the mail interface you want to use
- For SquirrelMail enter user information as follows
- First
initial + Last name as user name.
example: Yancey Lones would have a user name of ylones, not
ylones@online.ctcd.edu.
- Place
your password in the password box and click login (password assigned at account creation)
Creating New Folder(s):
Please follow this procedure to add folders to
your webmail account.
In SquirrelMail:
- Login
to your disted account as shown above
- Click
on Folders
- In Create Folder Area enter a name for the folder
- Click
Create
- Click
Refresh Folder List
Accessing Previous Folder Information:
Please follow this procedure to add your previous folder system to
your account.
In SquirrelMail:
- Login
to your disted account as shown above
- Click
on Folders
- At bottom
select all folders to be added to the navigation area
- Click
Subscribe
- Click
Refresh Folder List
Creating Filters in Squirrel Mail:
Please follow this procedure to add filters to your account.
- Login
to your disted account as shown above
- Click
on Options
- Click on Message Filters
- Click
New
- Select the item to match from the 1st drop down list
- Type the exact item to match
- Select Folder to place the matched messages in
- Click Submit
Search Folders in Squirrel Mail:
Please follow this procedure to search for messages in your account.
- Login
to your disted account as shown above
- Click
on Search
- Select the folder(s) to be searched in the 1st drop down list
- Type the item to match
- Select the message area to search for the match
- Click Search
Account Mapping Information :
Accounts for your Distance Education Email account are mapped to 2 addresses and 2 server names.
Account Names:
- Main Account: Your main account address is:
First
initial + Last name @online.ctcd.edu.
example: Yancey Lones would have an address of ylones@online.ctcd.edu
- Alias Account: Your Alias account address is:
First
Name. Last name @online.ctcd.edu.
example: Yancey Lones would have a user name of ylones, not yancey.lones@online.ctcd.edu
Server Names:
- Main Server: online.ctcd.edu
- Alias Server: ctc-disted.net
Outlook/Outlook Express FAQ:
Setting up POP3 for Outlook:
There are numerous types of email software packages that end-users may select, and for this reason we have not included
step by step instructions for setting up an account. However, almost all email software will require you to set-up an account
using the settings below.
Server Type = POP3
IMAPServer = mail.online.ctcd.edu
SMTPServer = mail.online.ctcd.edu
Account Name = flastname@online.ctcd.edu (Your account name will be your first initial and your
full last name + online.ctcd.edu )
Password = ****** (use the password assigned to you)
*Note: Under More Settings Button, click Outgoing Server tab and select My Outgoing server requires
authentication with the use same settings optin selected.

Sent email is rejected by server in
Outlook Express:
- Open the email application
- Click on Tools > Accounts
- Select the disted email account
- Click on Properties
- Click Servers tab
- Place a check in the My Server Requires Authentication box
- Click Apply
- Click OK
- Click Close
Can not Access account:
- Open the email application
- Click on Tools > Accounts
- Select the disted email account
- Click on Properties
- Click Servers tab
- In the Incoming Mail Server area, enter user name without
@online.ctcd.edu
- Click Apply
- Click OK
- Click Close
