How do I apply for financial aid?
Here are the steps to follow. Read everything. Keep dated copies of everything you send or receive. Use the check list and make a folder for your copies. You will apply for financial aid each year you are in school.
Step 1:
Initiate an application for admission.(http://www.ctcd.edu/forms/ctc_f19w.htm) We cannot process any financial aid for you, if you are not admitted to the college. Call or visit the Admissions Office to determine what you will need for enrollment. If you are currently enrolled, you have been admitted.
Step 2:
Before you complete the 2006-2007 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student
Aid), have a copy of your completed 2005 income tax return (IRS Form 1040,
EZ, or 1040A) and/or your parent's tax return and W-2 forms available as
these items will be needed to complete your financial aid application. Often
tax information, especially taxes paid, is entered incorrectly and you must
make the appropriate corrections later. CAUTION: Having
to make corrections slows down the financial aid process
Step 3:
Complete the FAFSA on the internet at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov following the instructions given. Most questions and problems can be answered or avoided by reading the instructions. The Department of Education may be contacted directly at 1-800-433-3243. NOTE: The school code for Central Texas College is 004003 .
Step 4:
Approximately 7 to 10 working days after you have filed the FAFSA electronically
your information will reach our financial aid system, and a letter will
be generated to you. The letter will include the Central Texas College In-House
Financial Aid Packet, and if you have been selected for verification by
the federal processor, we will request signed copies of the appropriate
tax documents and W-2 forms. You might also be required to provide other
forms of income verification as well. Once your financial aid file is complete,
an award letter advising you of the financial aid package Central Texas
College can offer you will be available for you to accept or decline through
WebAdvisor.
REMINDER: You do NOT have financial aid until you accept your award through
Web Advsior.
