Online Testing Services

Identifying a test proctor if you are testing off campus (you are not in the Killeen area)

The Central Texas College Distance Learning Staff recommend as an appropriate testing center one of the following:

  • Central Texas College Continental or International Site.
  • Central Texas College Service Area Site.
  • Community College or University testing center under the supervision of the Testing Director.
  • High School under the supervision of principal, counselor, or faculty.
  • Library facilities under supervision of Librarian or assistant.
  • Army or other service branch Education Center.
  • Army or other service branch Education Center with staff members designated for testing. The test proctor must be a neutral third party professional employed with one of the above educational institutions. Active duty service members may use a Commissioned Officer grade W-2 or above with a bachelor's degree if none of the above facilities are available. You must provide a detailed explanation of the circumstances, in the comments field, on your test proctor submission form explaining the inability to use the facilities listed above.

The test proctor must be a neutral third party professional employed with one of the above educational institutions or have a bachelor's degree. Proctors must have an official email address that has been assigned to them such as @ctcd.edu, @killeen.tx.us, or @usarmy.mil. Personal email addresses such as; yahoo, hotmail, or gmail cannot be used. We do not consider the following as appropriate test sites/proctors:

  • Friends or relatives
  • Personal Residence

Please make arrangements for testing at the beginning of your class to prevent delays, then submit the Test Proctor Submission Form  to identify your test site. You must provide all information requested before your form will be processed. This information is imperative for us to send your tests in a timely manner to the site and give us access to the test proctor in any situation.

Registering proctors who have never proctored for CTC

Once you have made contact with your potential test site and secured its hours of operation, testing procedures, and contact information, submit the test proctor selection form and fill in all fields on the form. You should receive an auto response informing you that we received your form.  From here on out, you will be making arrangements with your proctor concerning test times and dates, unless we need more information from you.  Be sure that you contact your instructor for information on which exams you must complete for the term in which you are enrolled.  Some exams are for previous terms and test sites will not necessarily have the information to distinguish which exams pertain to you.  Note:  you must submit the test proctor selection form above, even if you have submitted it previously to your instructor and/or the Admissions department. We do not begin to process Test Proctor submission forms until a week after class begins.

Proctors already proctoring for CTC

Once you have made contact with your potential test site, please inquire if they are already registered as a CTC proctor. If they are, you do not need to proceed to submitting your test proctor submission form. They will already have access to your exams. You will need only to make arrangements for testing dates based on the testing windows provided in your syllabus.

Normally, test site information is processed in 5-7 business days.

If the exam is not available at your scheduled time, contact your instructor for further instructions.

STUDENTS

Each installation provides proctored testing for eArmyU students. You do not need to submit the Test Proctor Submission Form if utilizing a designated eArmyU test site. You should obtain the location and phone number of the testing site at your installation through the eArmyU portal, or contact this office at online.testing@ctcd.edu

If you have extenuating circumstances

Service members with extenuating circumstances (such as deployments) should contact us to request information on making alternate testing arrangements by sending an email to online.testing@ctcd.edu. Please provide a detailed explanation of the circumstances. Alternate sites are considered on a case by case basis and are not guaranteed to be approved.

Re-scheduling tests

Occasionally situations arise which make it impossible for online students to take exams within the published schedule. It is solely the instructor’s decision to approve re-scheduling.Students are responsible for securing that approval prior to the last day of testing. Coordinate with the test proctor and schedule a new testing time in advance.  Students must supply the test proctor with the instructor’s written permission to reschedule. Late exams cannot be administered without the instructor’s approval. If a student is not able to supply proof of extension and insists on taking the exam, s/he is informed that the instructor may or may not accept the exam. Requests to re-schedule an exam should occur rarely and only in cases of emergency.
